Kindergarten Academic/Enrichment Camp

Morning
Summer camp is the perfect way to help your child to adapt to his/her new surroundings here and make a smooth transition into Laurence. It is an important time for them to meet their teachers and specialists, make new friends, and become familiar with our campus and the school routine. The morning program is designed to incorporate academic time (reading/math) along with enrichment (music/art/P.E., and dance/drama),and a splash of fun (moon bounces/water slides/Bubblemania/puppies/prize room, and more!)

Afternoon
Spend the afternoons with our own kindergarten teachers, who have planned an interactive program of enjoyable arts and crafts, delectable cooking, and stimulating literature-based activities. Each of these activities follows a distinctive summer theme, such as camping, vacationing, and exploring nature.

If your child has an older sibling attending camp or is riding the bus, he/she may stay at camp until the 3:00 P.M. pick-up time.

Incoming 1st and 2nd Grade

Choose from an array of hands-on enrichment electives, such as musical theater, art, sports, digital photography, iPads, top chef, kitchen chemistry, rockets, and movie-making just to name a few.

Beginning in 3rd Grade, students can choose whether to do sports or our academic program in the morning.

CHOICE #2: Morning SPORTS Camp
9:00 AM – 12:15 PM 


Coach Redmond is now offering an all-morning sports camp! Spend the morning working on skills, drills, and games for the designated sport (or sports) of the week. Work on fundamentals of each game, develop defensive and offensive strategies, and have fun playing against your classmates in friendly competitive games.

  • Week 1- Mixed Sports Camp (participate in a variety of sports i.e. basketball, soccer, football, dodgeball etc.)
  • Week 2 – Soccer Camp (specialized instruction on soccer skills, drills, strategies, and game play)
  • Week 3- Mixed Sports Camp (participate in a variety or sports i.e. basketball, soccer, football, dodgeball etc.)
  • Week 4- Basketball/Volleyball Camp (specialized instruction for either basketball and volleyball skills, drills, strategies and game play)

Please note that Sports Camp activities are subject to change based on actual registrations (i.e., number, age and interests of registered campers).

AFTERNOON PROGRAM

We have some exciting new additions to our summer program at Laurence this year, and you have some choices to make about how you would like to spend your time with us. During the morning, you can choose between our Academic Program or Sports Camp. During the afternoon, you can choose to participate in afternoon electives or in our Campers and Leaders Program (see below for more information about this program).

CHOICE #2: LEADERS-IN-TRAINING
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM 

The Campers and Leaders program offers a unique experience for incoming 5th and 6th graders to develop their leadership skills in a fun and safe environment. During the morning, students will be campers and participate in classroom activities. In the afternoon, students will have the opportunity to learn leadership skills during the first elective session and in the second session, they will put those newly learned skills to good use in an elective of their choice. Students who participate in our Leaders-in-Training program will receive community service credit.

Elective Session 1 - Students who chose the Leaders-in-Training track, will spend the first afternoon elective session an exciting and interactive leadership class, including team building activities, CPR training, and more! 

Elective Session 2 - Students put their leadership skills into practice during an elective of their choice. This unique experience will allow them to not only participate in the elective, but also play a supportive role to the teaching staff.

CITs

Students going into 7th through 9th grades have the exciting opportunity to join our CIT program. This is a great way for alumni to stay connected to Laurence, while continuing to develop leadership skills. Spaced are limited.

CITs receive community service credit.

Summer Tutoring

Laurence offers customized, individual private tutoring in math and language arts with its experienced faculty during the summers. Students can participate in our Summer Learning Labs as part of Summer Camp or separately Summer Learning Labs help students prepare for the upcoming school year, as well as standardized tests.

Summer Learning Labs are open to incoming 1st through 6th Grade students, as well as graduates getting ready to enter the 7th grade.

Tutoring sessions focus on any of the following:

  • Math concepts and skills
  • Reading comprehension and vocabulary
  • Writing skills
  • ISEE: math and quantitative reasoning
  • ISEE: reading comprehension and vocabulary
  • Secondary school organization, study skills and other transition tools

Tutoring Dates, Details & Pricing:

  • Ideally, we would like to work with students for at least two to three hours a week during the summer camp program morning hours in order for them to achieve the maximum benefit. 

  • Students do NOT need to be enrolled in Laurence Summer Camp to participate in our tutoring program. However, parents of Laurence Summer Camp campers will be credited back $20 of the tutoring fee for each hour of tutoring scheduled on a camp day. 

  • Laurence School will be charging $85 an hour for private sessions.

  • Available times are June 17th through July 12th, Monday through Friday mornings from 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.  Additional afternoon hours may be available upon request.

IMPORTANT CAMP information

  • CAMP DATES - Week 1: June 17 - 21 • Week 2: June 24 - 28 • Week 3: July 1 - 5 (no camp on July 4th) • Week 4: July 8 - 12
  • CAMP HOURS - Summer program hours are Monday through Friday, 8:50 a.m. to 3:00 P.M. (2:00 P.M. for Kindergarten). Kindergarten siblings may be picked up at 3:00 P.M. Campers may be dropped off at 8:30 A.M. for no extra charge. All campers must be picked up by 3:15 P.M.
  • LUNCH - Lunch is provided by our school catering ser­vice, Fresh Lunches, and may be purchased on a weekly ba­sis for a fee of $39.50. Children may also choose to bring lunch from home each day. Please see the Camp Calendar & Lunch Schedule on the link above.
  • SNACKS - Students should bring a mid-morning snack. An afternoon ice cream treat will be provided daily.
  • DRESS CODE - Comfortable clothing is recommended for summer camp. Children should wear tennis shoes or suitable shoes for sports, rather than sandals or open-toed shoes. A complimentary camp t-shirt will be provided.
  • COST - Camp fees are $505 per week ($410 for Week 3 only). If you sign your child up for all 4 weeks of camp, discounts will apply (including early bird - through April 29th - and sibling discounts).
  • HEALTH & SAFETY - Your child’s well-being is our pri­ority. Please complete the Emergency Medical Information Form, which can be downloaded after you’ve registered online.
  • LAURENCE LOOT - Every Friday, campers will exchange the Laurence Loot they have earned for fun-filled prizes.
  • RAIN POLICY - In the event of rain, activities will take place indoors within the School’s facilities.
  • LAURENCE STUDENTS & ALUMNI ONLY - Laurence Summer Camp, including its Leadership Program (for CITs and Counselors), is only open to current and former Laurence School students.
