Farmers' Market

Our 5th Grade Farmers’ Market program teaches students about economics, entrepreneurship and sustainable business practices. As part of this program, the students:

  • Grow and tend to produce in our Edible Garden

  • Design and package products from the garden's produce and other up-cycled materials

  • Lead each of the lower grades in designing and packaging a grade-level product to sell at the market

  • Learn economics by analyzing raw material costs and profit margins to determine product pricing, including using Excel to create formulas for the process

  • Film commercials and make print advertisements to market the products prior to the Farmers' Market

  • Run the market during our Open House & Global Faire

  • Analyze profits post-market

  • Donate the proceeds to help support the Edible Garden and the 5th Grade's sister schools in Africa
