We are excited for your children to participate in this year’s Interscholastic Sports Program! Whether on the field, on the court, or when visiting other schools, our Laurence Lightning athletes Represent the “L” wherever they go! This year, your children will practice and play on our newly renovated PAC and Sport Court.

You can now register for after school sports through Thriva, like the rest of our after school classes. We hope this change will help streamline the process for you!

Important Program Information:

• Please sign up your child(ren) for every season/sport in which they intend to participate during the school year. Due to significant cost increases related to the interscholastic sports program (notably bus transportation and referees), the interscholastic sports fees will be slightly higher during the 2022-2023 school year. Once you complete the registration, you will be billed for all sports at one time. If you have any questions regarding billing, please do not hesitate to contact Beth Kaplan in the Business Office. 

• Please note that the Athletic Agreement/Emergency Authorization will now be completed as part of your signup in Thriva. 

Uniforms:

• All 4th grade athletes are required to purchase one uniform set, which they will wear for all sports. Additional items may be required for certain sports. You may also purchase additional uniforms and uniform pieces for athletes in all grades. Once your registration is complete, you will receive the link along with instructions on how to order uniforms from Coach Jena Laolagi.
   
• Helmet for Flag Football
  • All 4th grade athletes will receive a brand new helmet to keep and use for the duration of their participation on the flag football team from 4th-6th grade. The price of the helmet is included when you register your 4th grader.
     
  • 5th and 6th grade athletes playing flag football will be able to use the helmet they purchased last year. If your child’s helmet no longer fits, or you are unable to locate the helmet, you will be required to purchase a new one. Football helmets can be used for the remaining 1-2 years. If you need to purchase a new helmet for your 5th or 6th grader, you will have the option to do so on the check out page in Thriva. 

Fall 2022 Practice Dates & Information:

All after school sports practices will take place in September and will be held from 3:00 - 4:30 pm.  Pick up is from 4:30 - 4:45 pm in the PAC lot. 

• 4th Grade: Tuesdays, 9/6 & 9/13

• 5th Grade: Wednesdays, 9/7 & 9/14 

• 6th Grade: Thursdays, 9/8 & 9/15 

The Week of 9/20-9/22 will be reserved for inter-squad scrimmages.  Once teams are formed, the schedule will be sent out.

Fall 2022 Interscholastic Games:

Games will start in September and last until approximately mid-November. Games may be scheduled for any day Monday through Thursday, and scheduling will not begin until mid-September. Once the game schedule is complete, we will email you. The full game schedule will be posted on the Parent Portal under “Athletics.” Additional athletics information about the sports program will follow shortly.
