"Keeper of Secrets"
By Mae Mae G.

I am the keeper of secrets
Secrets that lay their silent burden on my heavy shoulders
Secrets that pool in the depths of my mind
Sorted by an invisible draw

I am the keeper of secrets
And I'll carry them today and tomorrow
The trust of the world

I am the keeper of secrets
Only a frail binding on broken hearts
Tattered, threadbare, anticipating to snap

I am the keeper of secrets
And the credence of others is the hidden quiet that I keep
Darkness betrays the eyes, but never the listening
A spool of broken words that I spin into repose

I am the keeper of secrets
Secrets that continue to live on in my thinking
A sacrifice that I am more than willing to endure
And even if I care no more and wish for the fabrications to unravel
The secrets will stay locked in a room without a key
