Join us Friday and All Year at our RWB&G Assemblies

We hope you will all join us for the first Red, White, Blue & Green Assembly of the year, this Friday, September 7th. We'll be kicking off the new year, celebrating birthdays, dancing, and more! Be sure to send your child(ren) to school in their new Friday T-shirts, which were distributed today.

Red, White, Blue & Green Assemblies are a longtime tradition. As we celebrate 65 years of Laurence, it's with a sense of nostalgia that some of us - administrators, teachers, and even some of our alumni who are current staff and parents - remember the history of these assemblies. Before there was a PAC, students and teachers gathered on the playground (now the Sport Court) for Friday assemblies, celebrating the week, our community, and birthdays. Back then, our Sport Court was a blacktop surface, bordered by a sandbox with swings and monkey bars, where students played handball against the walls and hopscotch by the tree house during recess. Despite the different surroundings, Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson started off the assembly the same way - saying good morning, leading the flag salute, inviting student government members to make announcements - and we ended by singing the very same song: "Laurence, oh Laurence, you're number one!" Since then, our assemblies have grown in so many ways with parents in attendance, elaborate student performances, guest performers, and more. Still, the heart of every assembly is just the same as it always was - a special time for our community to be together and connect.

Mark your calendars for our upcoming assembly dates! We look forwarding to seeing you there.
