This past Monday, Laurence students had the privilege of testing out a yet-to-be-released Google augmented reality app. They took virtual field trips to experience the land of dinosaurs and the world of Ancient Rome, and they studied weather events and the solar system through simulated images. Each grade-level's expedition was tailored to classroom subjects.
Students viewed virtual images transposed onto the view of the room in front of them through the lens of Google phone cameras, while the perspective of the virtual images adjusted in real time. The children had a blast while experiencing distant places (in time and geography), natural phenomena, and extinct animals through this augmented reality app. To learn more about the app, click here.
