The Global Perspectives Presentation this week was on the wonderful country of Brazil, presented by the Slewett Family. Brazil is the largest South American country with one of the largest economies in the world. Most people think of soccer when they think of Brazil as they have won the Soccer World Cup more than any other country and there are a number of extraordinary players hailing from Brazil. But did you know that the Amazon Rainforest is home to the largest number of animals in the world? Brazil is well known for its natural beauty, from Copacabana Beach to the Foz do Iguacu waterfalls and Corcovado, Brazil has attractions throughout the country. Carnaval is a celebrated tradition that people from all over the world come to participate in every year. Lastly, the music of Brazil is world-renowned. The Bossa Nova and Samba music are traditionally from Brazil. We had a great time learning all about this amazing country! Our students especially enjoyed listening to the famous song, "The Girl from Ipanema," learning about Anaconda snakes, and brigadeiros.
