Celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights


Last Friday, we brought back another favorite Laurence School tradition – celebrating Diwali at our Red, White, Blue & Green Assembly! Students who celebrate this holiday at home dressed up in traditional clothing and shared about the meaning of the holiday: 

Diwali is India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year and is enjoyed by Indians around the world regardless of religious faith. Known as the “Festival of Lights,” it is a time to celebrate the victory of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, hope over despair, and to honor the light within each of us. May this Diwali bring beautiful beginnings, inner peace, much love and brighter days to us all.

We were also treated to an incredible dance performance by the award-winning Joya Kazi Unlimited Dance Company, who performed traditional and Bollywood dances. Everyone got in on the dancing fun. 

At lunchtime, a number of our families treated faculty and staff to a delicious Indian lunch. Thank you to the following families for this wonderful lunch:
