Graphic: A Celebration of July 4ths Core Aspirational Values

On July 4th, we celebrate America — our liberty, freedom, and independence. America is unique in that our nation was founded on a compelling ideal articulated in the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all people are created equal, endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights — among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

The fundamental American creed celebrated on July 4th is that all of us are created equal. While America has never fully lived up to the true meaning of its creed, these words remind us what, at our best, our nation stands for. We are each guardians of the American creed. It is up to all of us to preserve this sacred creed and expand and build upon it. It is up to all of us to protect the right to:

  • Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
  • Equal justice under the law
  • Vote and have every vote counted
  • Rise in the world as far as your talent and dedication can take you, no matter your race, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation

Let us come together to celebrate America’s independence and unite in advancing our nation’s ongoing efforts to guarantee that all people are created equal and endowed with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Let us celebrate our nation’s independence by spreading love, hope, kindness, and optimism.
