Dear Laurence Families,
As another school year comes to a close, I want to express my gratitude to each and everyone of you. Every school year is special to me as I watch our students grow and experience the joy of learning. This year was particularly special to me, however, as we celebrated 65 years of Laurence and my 30th year at the school. From the assembly and celebration in the fall to the Spring Event tribute and last week’s assembly with that very special presentation from our students, you all have showered me with appreciation. I am deeply touched by all of it. Laurence is my passion and your children’s education is my purpose, and I feel truly fortunate to be your Head of School.
I am also inspired by my father, who at 93 still comes to campus regularly because he cares so deeply about our students. He encourages us to work with purpose and passion. And most importantly, he reminds us to believe that tomorrow will be better than today.
It has been thrilling to see all of the ways our students thrived this year, and also how we grew as a community in delving deeper into becoming a more diverse, equitable and inclusive school! I am also incredibly proud of our 6th Grade students, who are graduating tonight. I will miss them dearly, as well as our families who are leaving Laurence with them, but I look forward to hearing about their new adventures.
Thank you to our incredible community - faculty, staff, administrative team, parents, grandparents, and alumni - for making the 2018-2019 school year another incredible year! Everyone here is “all in” and that is why Laurence is so special.
