STEAM Camp 2020 Details

1st - 2nd Grade Track

Daily Schedule

Daily themed activities. Please note that campers must bring their own snacks and lunches.

8:30 - 9:00 am: Carpool/Drop-off and Check-in
9:00 - 10:15 am: T-shirt Design and Themed Activities
10:15 - 10:30 am: Recess and Snack
10:30 - 11:45 am: Cooking and Themed Activities
11:45 am - 12:15 pm: Lunch
12:15 - 1:30 pm: Cardboard Arcade Game Design
1:30 - 1:45 pm: Recess
1:45 - 2:55 pm: Cardboard Arcade Game Design
3:00 - 3:20 pm: Carpool/Pickup

T-SHIRT DESIGN - Make your own t-shirts! Campers will sketch on paper and then draw and paint their designs on t-shirts with fabric markers. Campers will bring their creations home at the end of the week.

COOKING - Each day, students will make a themed side dish to go along with the lunch they bring from home, for example, rainbow salsa for Rainbow Day. Options will be adjusted based on food allergies and sensitivities.

CARDBOARD ARCADE GAME DESIGN - This fun class is inspired by Caine’s Arcade, the 9-year-old who built a cardboard arcade in his dad’s auto shop. Students will create their own cardboard arcade games to bring home.

Registration Details

Campers must register for all five (5) days of STEAM Camp. No partial week sign-ups or refunds will be given if campers attend less than five days.
Limited Space Available! Program maximum is 20 campers.
Snack and hot lunch will NOT be offered during STEAM Camp. Campers should bring a water bottle, snack, and lunch each day.
At this time, we are not offering bus service to and from the Laurence campus for STEAM Camp.

Class Descriptions

DESIGN AND PRODUCTION - Calling all makers and builders! Campers will be trained to use a host of tools, such as hammers, saws, drills, TinkerCAD, and the laser cutter. Throughout the week, campers will make the props for the subsequent 4-weeks of summer camp!

MINECRAFT - Campers will participate in team challenges on our Laurence Minecraft server, which allows up to 20 students to play together in the same world! Special attention will be given to digital citizenship, proper gameplay, and cooperative learning.

Laurence School's Camp Programs are open to only to current and former Laurence School students, including incoming students for the 2020-2021 school year.
