Program Overview
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Camp will include four, one-week sessions. Five class periods will be offered each day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a one-hour break at noon. Classes will be approximately 45 minutes and will run Monday through Friday.
Please pay attention to the applicable grade levels for each class. Grades refer to students' grade level for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.
You will be able to sign your child(ren) up for one class, or as many classes as you like during each session.
Bridges Academic Program
BRIDGES ACADEMIC PROGRAM
This academic program will "bridge" students from their current to rising grade level, helping them to beat the "Summer Slide" and preparing them for the upcoming school year.
Bridges classes will be offered twice a day during each camp session at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. One class will focus on math, and the other will focus on reading/language arts. Parents can sign their child(ren) up for one or both classes.

Fee: $100 per class, per week
Session 2 only: $80 per class, per week
Enrichment Classes
ENRICHMENT CLASSES
Our faculty are offering an array of fun enrichment classes, such as yoga, soccer, basketball, Minecraft, video game design, papier maché, origami, cooking, Math Club, summer book club, creative writing, singing, dancing, and more!

Ms. Landau will be offering ISEE prep to rising 6th graders as part of our Remote Summer Camp Program. Contact Ms. Landau to sign up for ISEE prep.

For this summer only, Laurence faculty members will be offering private tutoring throughout the summer (including the weeks of camp). Each teacher will do his/her best to work with your schedule so that your child may also participate in the Laurence Remote Summer Camp program should you choose to do so.

- If we receive less than 5 sign-ups for any class, then the class will be canceled and you will be notified so that you can register for an alternate class.

Do you love playing board games? Now you can design your own! We will go through the steps of designing a game, coming up with the rules, choosing the materials, and actually building the game itself. If you are creative and have a great imagination, this is the class for you!

Do you like stories? Do you like building and creating? Join Storybook STEAM! You will listen to fun stories and use them to inspire you to create and build different things every day, just using the materials you have around the house!
Materials: Nothing specific! Part of the fun will be finding materials to use around the house. E.g., paper, scissors, glue, markers, legos, building blocks, etc.
Larry Laurence Adventures | Mr. Woolner
Grades 1-3
The school mascot has a name - Larry Laurence - but he doesn’t have a character yet. Is Larry a trickster, a tech wiz, an athlete - maybe he's all three? We have the opportunity to create stories of Larry by brainstorming who, what, when, where, why and sometimes how. This class will be an exploration of different storytelling mediums - comics, animation, sculpture, puppetry - flex your creative muscles!
Materials: Students will need paper, pencil, sharpie or pen, and coloring tools on hand for each class.

Students will learn a vinyasa flow over the course of the week. We will stretch and learn basic poses of yoga. The class will embrace stretching and mindfulness.

Have you ever wanted to use all your reading, writing, and math skills to plan your own trip to the moon? Or to design a theme park? Or maybe a dinosaur park? What about to run your own pet shop? In this project-based learning elective, students will get a chance to put these skills to the test while imagining amazing things. Ms. Oakley will act as the project manager as students get free range to dream while learning to design a budget, write advertisements, and pick inventory.

Learn how to create a scrapbook of all of your favorite pictures on the computer! You'll learn how to create different designs and layouts using fun stickers, backgrounds, and more!
There are no hard materials required. Parents will be emailed the digital backgrounds and stickers that students need prior to the first class, which will need to be saved to the student's device. In addition, there will be a list of what types of pictures to save to the device, as well, so students can scrapbook them!

In the Newsroom we’re going to create the next, best News Channel, reporting on and telling stories from events and people around us. We’ll role-play news anchors and different characters. Digital Scrapbooking | Mrs. Miller
Grades 2-6
Learn how to create a scrapbook of all of your favorite pictures on the computer! You'll learn how to create different designs and layouts using fun stickers, backgrounds, and more!
There are no hard materials required. Parents will be emailed the digital backgrounds and stickers that students need prior to the first class, which will need to be saved to the student's device. In addition, there will be a list of what types of pictures to save to the device, as well, so students can scrapbook them!
Design with Glowforge | Mr. Tennyson

We will be using Garvit Designer to learn how to design for the Glowforge. Everyone will make a design that will be laser cut and sent home.

We will have daily read alouds and lots of engaging activities that go along with our "Sports, Movement & Games" theme. Throughout each of the activities, children will have the opportunity to socialize and bond with their peers and teachers.

Learn to write imaginative stories, poems and plays, and how to get them published. We will do weekly writing prompts for Stone Soup magazine, as well as learn how to write poetry and prose for various poetry anthologies.

During this elective we'll be getting outside to build gardens for all our gnome and fairy friends! Using items in our own backyards, we'll transform unused planters, broken pots, sticks, rocks, and much more into wee homes for our tiny friends.

Math Clubbers will get a head start in preparing for the next year of local tournaments and math competitions. Daily sessions will explore strategies of geometry, algebraic thinking, and more through problem-solving activities that incorporate 3D figures, numerical puzzles, and logical conundrums. Come join in the math fun!
Upcycling | Ms. Lemus
Grades 1-5
Students will learn the benefits of upcycling and create a jewelry box from an egg crate, a bag from an old t-shirt, and a bowling set from water bottles. Students will learn that by upcycling, we are saving the environment while also having fun!
Cartooning | Mrs. Moreland
Grades 1-3
Do you love to draw? Learn to draw some of your favorite cartoon characters! Mrs. Moreland will guide you through step-by-step so you can replicate any character, and even come up with your own!

Together we will make some delicious snacks all without doing any cooking! In this yummy-in-your-tummy class we will put together delicious and easy snacks! Fruit roll-ups - YUM! Sushi bananas - YES, PLEASE! Charcuterie board - now we are getting FANCY! Ants on a log - are you CRAZY Mrs. Alva?! I might be, but all of these snacks are super good.

Popsicle Structures | Mr. Espino

You're the builder. Come design and create your own structure. From a house to a bridge and maybe even a castle. It's your creation and you’re the boss. Just some popsicle sticks and some glue will get us started on the path to creating your popsicle masterpiece.

Do you like to show your spirit and cheer on others? Learn different cheerleading moves and cheers you can do to support your favorite sports and teams! We'll even learn how to make our own cheer pom poms!
