We are looking for families who are committed to their children’s education and to the Laurence School philosophy, and for those who wish to be part of an embracing, close-knit community. We seek to admit students who enjoy learning and are engaged, attentive, and inquisitive learners. Our interest is in children who immerse themselves in the opportunities provided at Laurence and who enjoy school life to the fullest. In making admissions decisions, we also consider the student’s “fit” with Laurence – his or her ability to succeed in the program Laurence offers.

We welcome inquiries regarding admissions year-round. Completed applications for the 2025-2026 school year will be accepted online beginning July 1, 2024. Laurence School does not restrict the number of applications we accept per school year.

While the application deadline is January 13, 2025, we encourage families to submit their applications as early as possible (prior to that date) so we can schedule the required applicant evaluation/play-date, as well as a parent meeting with a member of the Laurence Admissions Team.

Laurence School admits approximately 54 students to Kindergarten each fall. Those children are divided among three classrooms, each with two full-time, credentialed teachers.

The availability of space in other grade levels is tied to attrition of current students and varies from year-to-year.

Yes. We encourage you to get to know us by attending one of our comprehensive, meaningful, and interactive in-person Parent Visitations. Please see our Visit Laurence page for currently scheduled dates.

Currently, Laurence has round-trip bus service available for our students to and from the Hancock Park, Hollywood, Los Feliz, Silverlake, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Studio City, and the West Valley.

Also, with the help of our Parent Association, we facilitate carpool matching for interested families.

Potentially three:

1. We strongly suggest that you attend one of the many Prospective Parent Visitations. They are held on various weekday mornings throughout the fall and begin at 9:30 a.m. Please contact the Admissions Assistant, Chaniece Penn at cpenn@laurenceschool.com to make a reservation.

2. After submitting a kindergarten application, your child will be scheduled for a small-group evaluation/play-date on a Saturday in December, January, or February.

3. Once your kindergarten application has been submitted, Sandy Cohen, our Associate Director of Admissions, will contact you to schedule a one-to-one parent meeting with a member of the Admissions Team.

**If applying for a grade other than kindergarten, a student assessment and parent meeting will be scheduled when we know if we may have space availability in the grade to which you are applying.

Yes. Laurence pays close attention to the importance of a balanced elementary classroom when creating a class. Our conversations and planning include personality, diversity, learning readiness, and age.

The birth date cut-off for Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year is August 1, 2020. 

Your child must be five years old by August 1, 2020 to be eligible for the 2025-2026 kindergarten class.

Laurence is a family school and we recognize the advantages of having children from the same family attend the same school at the same time. Laurence will consider sibling relationships in the admissions process; however, sibling relationships are not a guarantee of admission. All factors will be considered for admission of siblings and legacy families, including but not limited to, admission qualifications, family involvement, and school support.

As a member of a consortium of Los Angeles Independent Schools (LAIS), we are varied in our educational philosophies and programs but united in our commitment to ethical practices in our admissions offices.

In order to minimize timing dilemmas for applicant families, we have agreed to these common notification and reply dates for fall 2025 admissions:

Grades K-8: Notification letters will be sent via email on March 14, 2025 at 5 p.m. 
Responses will be due no later March 21, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.

Yes. We have an after school play program that is offered Monday to Friday until 5:30 P.M. In addition, we also offer a wide variety of enrichment classes, which families may sign up for on a trimester basis. Click here for more information about our after school programs.

Kindergarten through 6th Grade tuition for the 2024-2025 school year is $38,950. At this time, we have not determined the tuition for the 2025-2026 school year.

In addition, there is a one-time new student fee of $2,500.

Yes. Financial  is assistance awarded based on a family’s economic need, as determined by a third party evaluation agency (FAST). If you wish to apply for financial assistance, please visit the Affording Laurence page of our website under the Tuition & Fees section. Should you have any questions, please contact our Business Office at 818-782-4001, ext. 229. Financial assistance decisions are separate from admissions decisions.

All completed financial aid forms for the 2025-2026 school year are due on February 5, 2025.
