Global Education
Through our Global Education program, which fosters global competency, students acquire a greater awareness of the many different points of view that reflect our global community, as they prepare to thrive in a multicultural world. Our program is integrated throughout many areas of study and aspects of Laurence life, engaging students in an exploration of diversity, inclusion, and our place in the global community. Students learn about their own heritage, and then journey outside themselves by studying their community and country. Their studies then extend globally, with an emphasis on recognizing and appreciating multiple perspectives.
Family Global Perspectives Program
Laurence families play a vital role in enriching our community by bringing their cultural heritages into the educational experience. Through engaging schoolwide presentations, parents share their personal stories, rich traditions, and a traditional cultural snack with our students. These sessions provide a firsthand look at different cultures, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation among the student body.

Cultural Assemblies
Our cultural assembly celebrations enhance the educational journey of our students by offering a window into global perspectives. During these events, students speak about the holiday or heritage month and the importance of this celebration for their family, and performers showcase traditional dances and songs that reflect their distinct cultural backgrounds. These assemblies promote inclusivity and a sense of belonging, cultivating a deep respect for diversity among the student body.
Global Fair
The Global Fair at our Spring Open House is a culmination of each year’s Global Education program, providing students with the opportunity to display their related work, including letters and art projects. Laurence students and their families engage in interactive experiences that broaden their understanding of different cultures and partake in a Global Tasting with a variety of international dishes provided by our parents. This gathering celebrates our students’ learning and brings our community together to experience the richness of diverse cultures.
Our Laurence Tradition
Our Global Education curriculum reflects the enduring values of our founders, Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson, and their deep commitment to humanism, outreach, and forging connections both locally and globally. They recognized the critical importance of providing students with a broad view of the world and emphasized that the world is accessible and interconnected. In today’s increasingly interconnected global landscape, where communication transcends geographic boundaries, we believe it is essential to build connections and friendships across borders, ensuring our students are well-prepared for the diverse world they inhabit.
