Dear Laurence Families,
This year, I am grateful that our K-6 students are on campus for in-person learning. As we look ahead to the Thanksgiving Break, we are consulting with our Medical Task Force on ways to maximize in-person learning time while also prioritizing keeping our community safe and healthy. Factors we are taking into account include:
Please note that our plans are subject to change if public health conditions warrant.
In-Person Parent-Teacher Conferences:
We are happy to announce that we will be holding in-person parent-teacher conferences on November 19, 22, and 23 for fully vaccinated parents. For those who are not vaccinated or are otherwise unable to attend in person, your conference(s) will take place over Zoom within the scheduled conference days. Conference sign ups and additional information will be provided soon.
Updated School Calendar:
The CDC and LA County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) recommend that unvaccinated individuals not travel at this time. For those who are traveling, please see the CDC's Safer Travel Tips for Families with Unvaccinated Children. LACDPH recommends that unvaccinated travelers self-quarantine (7 days with a test on day 3-5, or 10 days without a test) following out of state travel.
Laurence School aligns with LACDPH and CDC guidelines for domestic travel, which can be found here: CDC Domestic Travel Recommendations. If you are traveling internationally, please reference the CDC International Travel Recommendations and Requirements. Please note that we are unable to accommodate remote learning requests due to travel-related quarantine.
We recognize that no plan is perfect for everyone and that our plan may cause inconvenience for some in the community, but we believe that this plan is in the best interest of our students and staff and has the best chances of keeping everyone safe, while also minimizing further potential disruption to your child's educational experience. Please do not use this time to extend any trips away, but instead use it to monitor symptoms and self-quarantine, if needed.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and for working in partnership with us to keep our community safe and healthy.
