Kids’ Court is an innovative, interactive, award-winning program in which 6th grade students are introduced to the fundamental procedures and issues in the United States legal system. Students assume the role of prosecutors, defense attorneys, and witnesses to bring the drama of the courtroom to life as fairy/folk tale characters are placed on trial for a variety of crimes. Student juries ultimately determine the guilt or innocence of these celebrity defendants.

This program, created and taught by Laurence’s Associate Head of School, Lauren Wolke, J.D., is a highly acclaimed program and has received considerable newspaper and television coverage. Kids’ Court enables students to hone their critical thinking abilities as they participate in writing mock trials and developing legal arguments to support their positions. This program includes guest speakers, panel discussions, and a school-wide jury selection.
