Evaluation
Upon receipt of the Student Evaluation Form from your child's current teacher, Laurence School will contact you to set up an evaluation for your child. The appointment in January or February will include a group discussion for prospective parents with Lauren Wolke, Associate Head of School, and Gary Stern, Principal. At that time, student evaluations will be conducted in small groups with our Kindergarten teachers and Head of School. Applicants for grades 1-5 will be evaluated by the administration.

Laurence School Sibling Policy
We consider ourselves a family school and will try to keep families together. Siblings of present Laurence students (as of September 2010) will be given preference when all other factors are equal, including admission qualifications and the family’s positive relations, involvement and support of the school. Parents should realize, however, that existence of a sibling relationship never guarantees admission.

A candidate’s qualifications are determined based on a thorough assessment of each child’s developmental readiness and his or her previous school’s records. Some factors include: academic readiness, listening and following directions, transitioning, and the ability to establish positive peer and teacher relations. School-developed evaluations also are conducted to determine the applicant’s readiness and ability to achieve success in our program.
