Welcome Message From
the Head of School

Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome to Laurence! I hope that your exploration of our website gives you a sense of the energy and vitality that we feel on our campus each day. Since 1953, Laurence has grown as an academic institution and a home away from home, and our goal for this site was both to answer your questions and to give you a visceral sense of our joy and passion here.

With the guidance of my mentors, Marvin and Lynn Jacobson, and the support the entire Administrative Team, and our faculty and staff, I have aimed to strike the perfect balance between progress and tradition, speeding into the future without compromising our core values and traditions. For more than six decades, Laurence has been grounded in a “Total Child” philosophy that sees children as individuals who benefit from a challenging curriculum, a character-based education, and an embrace of global citizenship. At Laurence, we value curiosity above all else, aiming to develop creative thinkers who seek out innovative solutions to complex problems. We believe in fostering healthy minds and healthy bodies through exciting athletics with our world-class K-6 facilities. We also pride ourselves in staying at the forefront of technology in order to prepare our students for the changing rigors of the modern world.

Go explore! I only hope that this site will give you a sense of the spirit of Laurence and what it means to Represent the "L" - to be role models for the School and the larger community through our actions, empathy, optimism, and tolerance.

Please know that my door is always open and that I look forward to seeing you in person, to share our incredible students, our passionate parents, our talented faculty and staff, and everyone else that contributes to the heart of this magical place that we know and love.
