Random Acts of Kindness

During the month of February especially, Laurence staff and students alike can be "caught" performing random acts of kindness. The children are motivated and excited to participate in the many activities that teachers and students brainstorm together. Each classroom pairs up with a class in a different grade level, and throughout the month, students work and interact with their partner classes on a variety of activities, such as shared reading, portrait drawing, valentine exchange, and interactive games.

The month culminates with a school picnic lunch, at which time all students and faculty sit on blankets on the Sports Court, eating lunch and sharing treats.

It is a delight to see the students' wonderful interactions and their appreciation for one another. It is also a joy to see them “caught in the act,” being rewarded with certificates for their good hearts. They learn that all altruistic efforts, great or small, make a difference in helping others and that spreading the magic of kindness and concern for others brings great reward to each of us.
