Sixth Grade Connects with Sister School in Mumbai Affected by Flooding

Our 6th Graders have already begun their introductory letters to students at their sister school, The Holy Mother English School in Mumbai. In light of the recent hardships endured by people in Texas due to Hurricane Harvey, Ms. Morris' class discussed how the residents of Mumbai have also been suffering from terrible flooding caused by the worst monsoon rains in recent history. The monsoons have affected more than 40 million people in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

The town where The Holy Mother English School is located was badly flooded, but the children there are finally back in school. Ms. Morris emailed their teacher to let her know that Laurence's 6th Graders were keeping her students in mind and sent their best wishes. The teacher in Mumbai responded with a grateful email that ended with this note: "Here is a picture of us dancing in the rain." Ms. Morris shared the photo the teacher had attached (see below) with the class, which led to a wonderfully empathetic conversation.
